Alan E. Cooper, MD

Leading our team at the Sports Medicine Institute is Dr. Alan Cooper.

Dr. Cooper is a graduate of Dickinson College and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Hahnemann University School of Medicine.

Dr. Cooper completed his orthopaedic residency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1995. Following this, he completed an advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. While there, he was a team physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians.

Practicing orthopaedics since 1996, Dr. Cooper has extensive experience in advanced sports medicine and state of the art surgeries, including new technology to repair damaged knee cartilage. He has also pioneered several arthroscopic surgical procedures in the greater Pottstown area.

Dr. Cooper serves as an editor for Orthopaedic Technology Review. He also is team physician/orthopaedist for several sports teams including  Immaculata University, Pottstown High School, Hill School, Perkiomen Preparatory School, Philadelphia Phoenix (National Women’s Football Association), Philadelphia Pirates (Women’s Premier Soccer League), Berk’s East Gymnastics Academy and Philadelphia Barrage (Major League Lacrosse).
